Summary: What do you do when you're a pawn to the rise of an empire? If you're Laguna, you look for the happy part. Part of the Empire arc.
Notes: I know, I like May/December, so shoot me, they're probably closer in maturity than most I like. This was actually a joy to write, because it was some crazyfuck governmental stuff from the perspective of a good guy. This is not something I get to do often. But since I've been RPing him, I think I've got a decent voice, even if due to circumstance he's a bit more subdued than usual. And I finally get to explain the start of the Empire! Yay! The title is more of the 'hey guess the song lyric' that all the other titles in this arc have, so why break tradition? And I love this song a lot.

Notes: Well, I managed to eek out another one-shot in the Empire arc, and it's been... god a long time. I really like Quistis most when she's big sisterly, so that probably colored this a lot, as well as attempted to advance the general "plot" which really works backwards, if you think about it. Since, ah, the last time I worked on any of these stories was freaking 2007, I'll link to the other ones in the arc, since this was references both of them: Perfect Color Me, and Choke Until I Swallow. I'll prolly do another Quistis POV one because this one was shorter, plus it's fun?

But it let me meta, mostly about things drakonlily and I talk about. Inspired far too much by the song "Captain" by Dave Matthews Band, hence the title. I could have made this longer by writing out the, ah, porn, but I'm not like that. Hopefully this fits your request, Rina?

Summary: The point of leaving is coming back.
Notes: Didn't think I'd jump like that, eh? Well, this was mainly an exercise in slicing parts of what's going on--I didn't want to get into long, lengthy explanations or unnecessary scenes. Also, judging by her mental state, that being a little unbalanced and if you didn't notice, a little depressed, fragmenting worked. At least for me. As I think this may fit into an arc in which Rinoa then gets into politics and hell breaks loose, I found this a good ending point. And I like ambiguous endings. XD Rinoa's fun outside of her rebellious!love!interest! box, I think I may play around more with things like this. So first_seventhe, since this was basically written to your prompt, tis nice?

Notes: Ha, omg, so I kind of love the parental issues in FF8 probably more than anything else. Except for maybe the sorceress issues. Which is pretty much what this chapter is. I wouldn't have been able to write it without Vanessa Carlton's song "Half a Week Before the Winter" which is a haunting little song that gives me goosebumps. I love finding songs that just fit with characters in my mind. And yes, I will eventually get to what the hell is up with the hands.

Notes: I've been wanting to write a Rinoa story for a while that addresses some of the issues I had with her role in the game. So when Sev put up a prompt, and well, POINTED ME TO IT, I knew I had my story. Scarily enough, this'll take a few chapters. I think reading all the women's lit lately has helped. XD I am still also probably the only person on the planet that thinks she'd embrace her powers, if given the chance. Title from a Tori Amos song that makes me think of Rin.

Kind of a creepy after-possesion Edea, as I'd imagine her out on a dark night. Her veins are still a little visable and sometimes she finds herself wearing dark purple lipstick.
Yes, I'm aware that she has no nose and the proportions might be a little off. I like doing stylistic paintings, and as a designer more than an artist, this took me WAY too long to look like that. If you can't tell, I adore shadows and lighting probably more than anything else. XD
